Corporate Services Manager
The City of Kenora (www.kenora.ca) (pop. Approx. 15,000) in Northwestern Ontario invites individuals with strong financial and information technology skills to be part of a progressive team dedicated to growing the City of Kenora. Kenora is just a two hour drive East of Winnipeg on the Trans Canada Highway and just three hours north of the Canada-USA border. Reporting directly to the CAO, the Corporate Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire financial management of the City including budgets, financial reporting, financial planning and forecasting,
supervision of department staff. The Corporate Services Manager will also be responsible for overseeing Information Technology department.
The following qualifications/attributes are strongly preferred in the successful candidate:
➢ Post secondary degree in Commerce, finance or Public Administration or Business or a related discipline as well as a professional accounting designation (CA,CGA, CMA) required.
➢ Significant and demonstrated experience in a senior officer capacity with a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience involved with overseeing the administration of municipal finances, fiscal planning, department management and staff supervision
➢ Knowledge of the planning and design of information technology architectures, systems development methodologies, project management, and strategic planning is an asset
➢ Thorough working knowledge of the Municipal Act, Public Sector Accounting Board standards,
Occupational Health and safety Act, investment and debt management, provincial/federal funding programs, property taxation, auditing standards and practices and other related legislation or regulations.
➢ Excellent interpersonal, financial, managerial, project/time management, organizational, analytical, research, communication, presentation, problem-solving, report-writing and supervisory skills.
➢ Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications and financial management applications
➢ Experience working in a unionized environment
➢ Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation
➢ All applicants must be able to pass a City of Kenora pre-employment health evaluation and a criminal reference check
