DEPUTY TREASURER
The City of Kenora (www.kenora.ca) (pop. Approx. 15,000) in
Northwestern Ontario is seeking a highly motivated, innovative individual
with strong accounting and analytical skills to join our City Hall Team.
Kenora is just a two hour drive East of Winnipeg on the Trans Canada
Highway and just three hours north of the Canada-USA border, we are

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Deputy Treasurer is responsible
for administering the day-to-day financial operations of the City and
various City-related entities, including supervision of the payables and
other municipal accounting related functions. The Deputy Treasurer is
responsible for the recording of all transactions and the preparation of
various schedules, claims and reports for both internal use and for
senior levels of government.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess an Accounting Designation.
Applicants should possess a minimum of four (4) years of municipal
accounting or public practice accounting work and supervisory experience.
Interested applicants should have thorough knowledge of modern
governmental accountingtheory, principles and practices, GAAP and
PSAB. Thorough knowledge of budgetary, accounting and reporting
systems, and the ability to prepare and analyze complex financial
reports and to perform complex arithmetic computations accurately
and quickly. Ability to effectively supervise staff. Working knowledge of
computer packages such as Windows, Microsoft Office, Lotus and
Vailtech Municipal programs would be considered an asset. Excellent
verbal and written communication skills are required.
Remuneration will be commensurate with education, experience and
qualifications and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
