Contact North | Contact Nord is Ontario’s Distance Education & Training Network. In partnership with Ontario’s publicly-assisted education and training providers, we help Ontarians in small, rural and remote communities access English and French-language college, university, literacy and high school programs and courses without having to leave their community.
Contact North | Contact Nord is seeking an individual to fill the following full-time position:
REGIONAL TECHNICAL OFFICER – Full-Time
Reporting to the Director, Information Technology Services, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and end user training for technical equipment used by Contact North | Contact Nord. This includes a variety of equipment including computers, servers, routers, computer conferencing (Internet), audio conferencing, videoconferencing, facsimile machine, printers, audio-visual, telecommunications, local and wide area network and related operating systems and software.
Location: Based out of the Thunder Bay Regional Coordinating Centre. Will involve intermittent travel.
Hours: 35 hours per week with day, evening shift rotation. Minimal occasional weekend hours.
Qualifications: Graduation from a college or university program in information technology, computer science, networking and internetworking, or a related field. Three to five years experience operating, installing and supporting networking, internetworking and routing technologies, and/or three to five years experience installing, operating and supporting conferencing and telecommunications systems, network attached storage and storage area networks. Working knowledge of Microsoft and open source operating systems. Video over IP and voice over IP, Microsoft and/or Cisco certification would be an asset. A motivated self-starter, the successful candidate requires highly developed analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills, and a strong commitment to customer service with a proven track record. The ability to function in both English and French is an asset.
