The Eabametoong First Nation Education Authority is an
organization committed to providing Eabametoong First Nation
students with the support needed to complete their academic
achievements. The Eabametoong First Nation Education Authority
operates a branch office located in Thunder Bay that provides
support for the Secondary students attending high school in
Thunder Bay.
The object of the Secondary program is to support Eabametoong
First Nation students to gain access to secondary education and
graduate with the skills needed to pursue a higher education.
The Eabametoong First Nation Education Authority Branch Office
in Thunder Bay, ON requires:
– Guidance/Student Support Worker
Contract term of employment:
- Effective immediately to June 28, 2013
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Degree in the area of counselling/guidance
- Computer skills/data entry
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Experience working with youth
Duties:
- Supporting and promoting career education
- Supporting and developing orientation programs for
new and returning students
- Develop partnerships with the local high schools
- Counselling students
- Working with the students to assist in developing their
knowledge, skills and strategies i.e. job searches,
post secondary programs
- To lead and participate in various recreational, educational
and social activities and to accompany students either to
other functions for scheduled meetings or activities
- To provide transportation for the students to events if the
students are unable to utilize public transportation
- To undertake any additional activities as may be required
from time to time in accordance with the Boarding Home
Guidelines and Secondary Student Policy
