Human Resources Officer
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is the first medical school
to open in Canada in over 35 years. Since its official opening in 2005, the
School has developed and delivered a distinctive model of distributed,
community-engaged, and socially accountable medical education and research.
NOSM has campuses at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and Laurentian
University in Sudbury, with teaching and research sites across Northern
Ontario. NOSM is a made-in-the-North solution that is attracting attention
from around the world for its innovative model.
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine is currently seeking a dynamic and
innovative individual to join our team as a Human Resources Officer at our
Thunder Bay Campus. Working in a fast paced, academic environment, your main function will be to provide leadership on matters related to employee and
labour relations, providing timely direction and advice to Managers.
In addition, you will be responsible for leading the recruitment process and
will assist with other Human Resources administrative projects and programs
such as, but not limited to, compensation, payroll, job evaluation, and
policy development. You will be an important contributor to many in-house
committees and your excellent customer service, responding to employees'
inquiries and complaints, will be vital to the achievement of NOSM's
strategic plan.
In order to be successful, you will have 5 years of labour relations,
experience as well as a degree from a recognized Canadian University
complemented by your CHRP designation, either completed or in progress.
Experience in an academic unionized environment is a definite asset.
