Aboriginal Outreach/Recruitment Officer
Aboriginal Initiatives, Thunder Bay Campus
• three-month contract with possibility of extension
Reporting to the Vice-Provost of Aboriginal Initiatives, the incumbent will
be responsible for the overall coordination of community outreach and
recruitment activities. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver
presentations and answer questions on admissions and student life. The
successful candidate will represent the University at Aboriginal
Post-Secondary Information recruitment events and fairs as well as arrange
campus tours and visits for prospective Aboriginal students. Additionally,
the incumbent will organize and participate in the University's promotional
activities including visits to high schools and colleges, exhibitions, and
conventions.
A post-secondary education complemented by two years of related experience
is required. The successful candidate must have knowledge of and experience
with Aboriginal culture, heritage, language, and associations. With
demonstrated initiative and excellent judgement, the ideal candidate also
proves to have exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and customer
service skills. Flexible and independent, the incumbent has the ability to
work varying hours and is willing to travel within or outside of Ontario and
must possess a valid driver's licence. Preference will be given to
candidates of Aboriginal descent.
