Confidential Secretary to the Registrar
Office of the Registrar, Thunder Bay Campus
• Temporary position

As a dedicated team player, the successful candidate will provide assistance
and counsel students with academic problems that warrant a petition as well
as gather and present petition materials to the Registrar on a weekly basis.
The incumbent will maintain the Registrar’s office website, manage ad hoc
room bookings, and also provide secretarial support for convocation
meetings, senior staff meetings, and the Registrar’s advisory group.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will coordinate production of invitations
to convocation while also maintaining mailing lists and RSVP numbers.

The incumbent has a minimum of one to two years of experience in an office
environment with some administrative responsibility. The successful
candidate possesses excellent communication and organizational skills and
the ability to work in a confidential environment. Computer literacy in
Microsoft Office, web browsers, CMS, Data Colleague systems, and Google mail is required. Availability to ccasionally work evenings and weekends during
peak periods is preferred.

Mechanic Trades 3

Physical Plant, Thunder Bay Campus

• Full-time position

Performing mechanical maintenance work through the University’s computerized work order system, the ideal candidate will inspect, investigate, and solve problems related to the operation of the mechanical systems and equipment and provide technical advice as necessary. The incumbent will make necessary reports and keep records and files as required for work orders,
requisitions, and upgrades and changes to systems as well as estimates of
work for repairs to mechanical systems on campus.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of recognized practices, techniques, and
equipment common to the mechanical trades as well as a thorough
understanding of theory and operation of pneumatic and electrical controls,
heating, ventilation, air-conditioning systems, and refrigeration. The
ability to install, overhaul, and adjust systems from sketches, blueprints
or specifications is required. The successful candidate must have a minimum
Grade 12 education and possess a valid journeyperson licence with a
certificate of qualification (e.g. refrigeration and air-conditioning
mechanic). A valid Gas Fitter 2 certificate or greater and a valid driver’s
licence are also required. A current Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP)
certificate and experience in HVAC and refrigeration are preferred.
