Heavy Equip Technician
HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN
Sleeping Giant Enterprises Ltd (SGE), a wholly owned subsidiary of the
Thunder Bay International Airports Authority Inc., currently has an
opening for a Heavy Equipment Technician.
The successful candidate will join a small but dedicated team offering
state-of- the-art airport and highway equipment maintenance and
technical support to airports and municipalities across Canada.
In this role you will troubleshoot, repair, maintain and provide after
sales technical support of mobile equipment, and perform cross functional/
trades duties as required. Technical support may include phone support
and training of customer operators and/or technicians. You will interact
directly with SGE customers at all levels of their organizations. You
must meet the physical demands of the position.
Experience in the following is preferred:
❑ Computer vehicle systems diagnostics
❑ Hydraulic and hydrostatic troubleshooting & repair
❑ Electrical and electronic troubleshooting & repair
❑ Welding and fabrication
❑ A second language would be an asset
Travel opportunities exist and will be required as part of regular and
unanticipated customer support activities. There will be a requirement
to work flexible and extended hours for which you will be compensated

The qualified candidate must submit to a background security screening,
obtain an airport restricted area pass, an airside vehicle operator’s
permit, restricted radio operators permit, and possess an InterProvincial Heavy Equipment or Inter-Provincial Truck and Coach
license as well as a valid driver’s ‘DZ’ license.
