New stretch of Highway 11/17 to open today

Roadblocks, orange fences and closed signs are to be removed from the Highway 11/17 entrance at the Harbour/Thunder Bay expressway intersection when the road opens to traffic this afternoon.
The new stretch of Highway 11/17 between the Thunder Bay Expressway/Harbour Expressway and Vibert Road will be open to public traffic at around 2 p.m. today, says the Ministry of Transportation.
Drivers are cautioned that the double left turn lanes on the Harbour Expressway have been replaced with a single left turn lane and two through lanes.
The ministry also reminds motorists of new stop signs at Mapleward Road, Twin City Crossroad and Highway 130/Vibert Road.
Construction work will continue at the west connection in the Vibert Road area for several weeks following the opening.
