Bikers gearing up to cheer up children

Thunder Bay’s bikers are doing their part to make Christmas as merry as possible for the city’s children again this year.
On Sept. 15, the 29th annual Toys for Tots Ride will take place. Toy collection boxes have been passed out to various city motorcycle dealers, and during the ride, participating bikers will travel to each location picking up the donated toys.
They’ll then present the toys to the Salvation Army on N. Cumberland Street.
“It’s really important that no child gets missed at Christmas time,” said Gail Kromm of the Salvation Army Thunder Bay. “That’s what we’re trying to do. Just . . . make sure that every child gets something.”
And the need this year is even greater than usual, as many Thunder Bay families are still struggling in the aftermath of the May 28-29 flooding disaster.
