The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate a fatal Limbrick Street fire.
An investigator from Toronto was to arrive at the Thunder Bay scene Tuesday evening to begin searching for the cause of the blaze, which broke out at about 8 p.m. Monday in one of the townhouses on the Northwood street.
When firefighters arrived they found the residence engulfed in smoke. It took about three hours to extinguish the blaze.
Three people were taken to hospital after being pulled from the residence. Two suffered smoke inhalation, and one critical injuries. The latter died in hospital.
Specifics of the injuries and cause of death weren’t revealed on Tuesday due to the continuing investigation.
No names were released.
Fire officials wouldn’t reveal anything about the fire, such as where in the townhouse it started.
Reports indicated the fire caused heavy damage to the interior of the residence, but no specifics were released.
Further information is expected once the Fire Marshal’s Office completes its investigation.
