Friends Zsu Zsa Elchuk and Donna Heisholt stood out at the County Fair Plaza LCBO outlet dressed as “outrageous characters” to collect money for the Salvation Army kettle campaign. The pair in Thunder Bay sang Christmas carols on Friday with their own lyrics, spurring shoppers to chuckle and drop money into the kettle. Temperatures were made cooler by winds as the pair braved the cold. The kettle campaign is falling short of donations and the public is asked to step up and help fill the kettles. Proceeds from the fundraiser help the Salvation Army’s soup van, food bank, school programs and many other initiatives for the needy.
