Swimming advisories lifted at 3 beaches

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has lifted swimming advisories at three Boulevard Lake beaches.
After reviewing test results from beach water samples taken on Thursday, the health unit has lifted swimming advisories for Main Beach, Sandy Cove and Sunny Side.
Swimming advisories do not close a beach nor stop people from swimming; they let swimmers know about the water conditions, the health unit says.
Swimming in water with high levels of E. coli can cause skin, eye, nose and throat infections as well as stomach illness.
To reduce a person’s risk, the health unit recommends: avoid swallowing beach water, towel off after a swim, and shower once at home.
Beach water sampling will continue until the last week of August.
