Cyclist dies; man charged with murder
A Thunder Bay man has been charged with second-degree murder and failing to remain at an accident scene after a male cyclist died of injuries suffered in a collision with a vehicle on Tuesday in the city's north side.
Thunder Bay Police said that Richard Terrance Vrastak, 38, of Thunder Bay, died Thursday in hospital.
Vrastak was fatally injured when he was struck by a minivan about 6:40 p.m. as he rode on an Algoma Street South sidewalk near the entrance to a parking lot on the 200 block. The driver of the van fled the scene of the collision, police said.
Sheldon Mark Yesno, 32, has been remanded into police custody, charged with second-degree murder.
