Survivor helps kick off Exceptional Cancer Care Campaign
Cancer survivor Shawn Christie helped launch the Exceptional Cancer Care Campaign on Thursday with an emotional speech about the care he has received.
Christie started his cancer treatment Oct. 31, 2011.
“From the day I started treatment, the people here . . . they are so genuinely here. The reason they’re working in this centre is because this is their passion. It’s not a job to them and you know that as a patient," he said.
“They embrace you, they make you feel so comfortable, they know what you are going through . . . these horrible treatments that are like destroying your body from the inside out to kill all those cancerous cells, so that you can restart and get past this.’’
