Murdered women remembered

People met at Thunder Bay City Hall on Friday to take part in the sixth annual Valentine’s Day Memory Walk for murdered and missing native women. The walk left city hall and travelled north on May Street, then headed right at Isabel Street before concluding at the Lakehead Labour Centre.

As the room went silent on Friday, aboriginal liaison Ann Magiskan stepped up to the microphone and recited these words:
She was someone’s baby girl.
She was someone’s best friend.
