Re A Painful Visit; Businessman’s Trip Ends Badly with Cumberland Street Beating — letter, July 12:
In the past five years I believe there were 23 homicides in our city. In the previous five years I believe there were three. In an interview Mayor Keith Hobbs said this is a normal development! Besides the assault on Cumberland I know there are many other assaults which aren’t reported.
There have been four homicides this year. How many of us voted for Hobbs because of his promise to reduce crime in our great city? Has he fulfilled his promise? Do you feel safer now that he’s the mayor? Look at what he’s been doing. What has he concentrated his efforts on?
Election time is soon. Remember the promises that he hasn’t delivered on.
