The Thunder Bay Police Service is recommending that the city does not allow private cannabis retail stores in 2019, says a report by city administrators.
The report, with advice from various city departments as well as city related boards and committees on whether Thunder Bay should allow bricks and mortar stores to sell cannabis, will be presented to city council today.
The province has given municipalities until Jan. 22 to either opt-in or opt-out of hosting retail store locations. Those that opt-in are locked in to their decision, while those opting-out are allowed to opt-in at a later date.
