Thunder Bay Police Service officers attend the area where a body was found along the Kaministiquia River near the Hardisty Street rail tracks on Wednesday.

A passerby spotted a body floating in the Kaministiquia River, Thunder Bay police confirmed on Wednesday.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the scene — east of Hardisty Street, south of Arthur Street — by CP police to investigate the incident. Police say the call came in around 12:30 p.m.

The body has since been recovered from the water. Police say the body appears to have been deceased for some time.

A post mortem is pending.

No other information is available at this time.

Police have not released any details about the body found, including its gender or age.
