Vieve Shanks believes conversations around gender identity should begin at as early an age as possible.
“If I had more language around that when I was younger, I think it would have been a lot sooner than my 20s when I realized my identity,” they said on Monday following Thunder Pride’s annual awareness breakfast on Monday at the Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel.
Shanks was one of five panel members discussing the use of pronouns relating to transgender individuals.
Shanks said they want to help people understand they would like to move away from assuming someone’s pronouns by looking at them.
