The 79th Finnish-Canadian Grand Festival began on Friday with activities continuing today at Waverley Park and St. Paul’s United Church and Trinity United Church.

Live entertainment is planned throughout the day in Waverley Park with the boot toss starting at 11 a.m., followed by a children’s mountain bike race, wife carrying race at 2 p.m., and street hockey at 3 p.m.

A speakers workshop series will be taking place during the day at the Lakehead University Law School and there will be a Nordic Film Festival at Trinity United Church.
