While a portion of Victoria Avenue was closed to motor vehicles on Wednesday, the street was still busy with the hustle and bustle of foot traffic.
The Fort William Business Improvement Area hosted the first of two urban parks planned for this summer on Wednesday afternoon on East Victoria Avenue between May and Brodie streets.
The street was filled with sidewalk shopping, live entertainment, food vendors and information booths.
“We’re hoping that people will see the space differently,” said Shelby Ch’ng, vice-chair of the Fort William BIA. “The south core in the past has gotten a very bad reputation and this is when business owners come out and actually try to change the narrative of the space.”
