Taking a tour

Wally Peterson, treasurer of the Lakehead Transportation Museum Society, left, gives Kayleigh Dowds a tour of the bridge of the Alexander Henry.

The Alexander Henry welcomed its first guests on board over the weekend as the ship opened for the season.

Jessica Mitton and Jessica Serson, both friends, visited the retired Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker for the first time on Monday at the Pool Six site at the Thunder Bay waterfront.

“We didn’t know it was here,” said Mitton. “We just came to the waterfront and saw the signs. It’s really cool, there is so much history there.”

Serson said she liked the look of the boat not completely refurbished.
