School comes through for Motorcycle Ride for Dad

St. Jude School principal Cynthia Gordon, back left, and former principal John Pascuzzo, back right, celebrate the south-side school’s students raising more than $2,300 for the Motorcycle Ride for Dad with students, in front row from left, Michael Ganth, Aynslee Agawa, Issac Ganth, Nicholas Simonaitis and Jonah Milne. The money raised will be donated to the Northern Cancer Fund.

Jonah Milne got an extra surprise for his 10th birthday when he discovered he was one of the top three fundraisers in St. Jude School’s Motorcycle Ride for Dad donation drive.

The Grade 4 student raised $185 of the school’s $2,335 total that was donated to the Northern Cancer Fund on Thursday.

Jonah was inspired to do his part because his grandfather had cancer. The student earned a toy-sized model of a vintage motorcycle for his efforts.

“It’s pretty cool because it’s my birthday right now,” Jonah said.

Collecting pledges from family and friends, Jonah said it was important to raise the money for equipment and whatever else cancer patients need.
