Open house

Lyle Quan, a senior fire services consultant with Emergency Management and Training Inc., is joined by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Chief John Hay, deputy Chief Greg Hankkio and deputy Chief David Paxton during an open house for the fire service’s master plan on Tuesday evening.

The general consensus of an online survey, so far, gives Thunder Bay Fire Rescue a gold star for service to the community, but according to Lyle Quan, a senior fire services consultant with Emergency Management and Training Inc. — there is always room for improvement.

Quan, who has worked with the city and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue since 2010, is gathering data from the community and city staff to help develop a new master plan for Thunder Bay’s fire service that will not only make improvements but will enhance their existing service.

In addition to the survey, an open house was held at the Italian Cultural Centre on Tuesday for people to hear an overview of the project’s goals and how they will be accomplished.
