Thunder Bay Fire Rescue called a it a minor miracle that no one was seriously injured after a pickup truck drove completely into the Memorial Avenue Java Hut coffee shop shortly before noon on Saturday.
Upon arrival, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews assisted customers out of the building as sharp glass, building materials and brick had been strewn throughout the restaurant. Firefighters checked all the approximately 16 patrons in the establishment and discovered no serious injuries.
A female driver and two passengers were able to exit the vehicle unharmed. Firefighters said the damage to the building is significant. Thunder Bay Police were on the scene Saturday and the incident is currently under investigation.
Police had no information on charges.
