Thunder Bay musician Arley Hughes described opening this year’s female-driven Thunder Bay Blues Festival on Friday as “freaking incredible.”
“I feel like women have a lot to share and we’re a force and I think we’re slowly beginning to be recognized for our musical talents and how we hold the stage,” said Hughes. “It feels really good to be in this lineup because it’s so female heavy.”
That theme was something that really excited Sami Chong, lead guitarist with The Angies, a local all-female Rolling Stones tribute band that followed Hughes on Friday.
As a teacher of music, Chong said she would encourage her students to have fun and play music with other people.
