About 375 Pikangikum First Nation forest-fire evacuees who have spent the better part of two weeks waiting it out in Thunder Bay hotels may be able to return home early next week, city officials said Tuesday.

Since the Thunder Bay group was considered the most vulnerable — including young children, the elderly and those with medical issues — “they’ll be the last to return home,” said Thunder Bay deputy fire Chief Greg Hankkio.
