Raising the flag

Elder abuse comes in many forms and the most common type seniors in Thunder Bay experience is financial abuse or fraud.

“Financial is the biggest part of my job right now,” said Det.-Const. Kevin Middleton of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s crimes against seniors unit.

The main barrier to stopping that abuse is it’s often family committing the financial elder abuse, Middleton said.
