Ahtila, Rosemarie M.

Mrs. Rosemarie M. Ahtila, age 57 years, a resident of 74 Oswald Street, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (General) on Saturday, June 30th, 2001 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Port Arthur, her home, family and grandchildren were her main interests. She loved life and especially enjoyed bowling, golfing, ballroom dancing and trips to Grande Portage.Rosemarie is survived by Waino, her husband of thirty-nine years; daughter Elaine Forbes and son Richard (Shawn) both of Thunder Bay; three granddaughters: Amanda, Meagan and Farren Forbes; brother Henry Swanson; five sisters: Elizabeth Hilverda, Rita Swanson, Phyllis Ashcroft all of British Columbia, Agnes Jacobson and Dorothy Dulude of Thunder Bay. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Swanson and sister Irene.In keeping with Rosemarie's wishes, Cremation has taken place and a private Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 5th in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, with interment in Riverside Cemetery.If friends so desire, donations may be made in Rosemarie's memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
