It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Irene Mary (McKay) Anderson announce the passing of their loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt, who passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Care Group (Hospice Unit) on April 26, 2004 with her family at her bed side.Born in Manchester, England on June 25, 1914. She emigrated to Canada with her family at the age of seven where they settled in Fort Frances, ON. It was here she met and later married James McKay of Chalk River, ON. She especially enjoyed music, Monday night shuffle board and Sunday dinners with her family. She was also an avid reader. She will always be remembered for her kindness to all, her wisdom in times of need, her many sayings and her love of family. She was instrumental in the development of tenants rights for Thunder Bay low income housing. Irene was predeceased by her husband James Stuart McKay, second husband Arthur Anderson, sisters: Elizabeth Nelson, Edna Basher, and Nancy Thomas, brothers: Frank and Harold Maxwell, grandson Rick McKay, great granddaughter Kathleen Pile, son-in-law Robert Mehaffey, and brother-in-law Martin Nelson. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Betty (Fred) Oltmann, Helen (Lloyd Heggart) Mehaffey, Jack (Judy) McKay, Jo-Ann (Barry) Sutherland, Bryan (Judy) McKay, Tom "T.R.
