Armiento, Vito

Mr. Vito Armiento, age 78 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, died in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Wednesday, March 1, 2006. Vito was born in Ruovo del Monte, Italy on February 2, 1928. He came to Canada in 1951 where he worked various jobs in Northwestern Ontario until he finally settled in Fort William and worked as a grain handler at Richardson Elevators for 25 years. Vito was a member of the Da Vinci Centre, Italian Cultural Centre and the Senior's Club at St. Dominic's Church. He spent many of his days getting together with his friends playing cards and bocce. In his retirement, he loved to travel. His most favourite thing to do would be working in his garden all summer and sharing his harvest with his children and friends. But most of all, he cherished his children and grandchildren, and he will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Vito is survived by his son Frank (Assunta) Armiento, daughter Teresa (Pat) Coccimiglio, daughter Ollie (Andy) Pedersen, son Donato Armiento, special friend Rose Marie Kay; five grandchildren, Michael Armiento, John and Joanna Coccimiglio, and Andrew and Alex Pedersen, brothers Vincenzo, Guiseppe, Domenic Armiento and sister Maria Andreacci. and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Francesco and Teresa Armiento and his wife Giovannina. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2006 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass in St. Dominic's Church at 10:00 am celebrated by Rev. Daniel Lapolla c.s. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Vigil Services will be offered on Sunday, evening at 7:00 pm in St. Dominic's Church. If friends desire, memorials to the St. Joseph's Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Vito Armiento in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
