Mr. Jack Baker, age 73 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice on Thursday, March 2nd, 2006 after a lengthy illness with his loving wife at his side. Jack was born to Samuel and Elizabeth Baker in Port Arthur. His parents and sisters, Cassie and Barbara, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Arlene (Speirs), son Danny (Betty), daughter Donna, (Trevor Egeberg) of Oxford Mills, Ontario (en route), grandchildren Nicole and Wade Egeberg, Mitchell and Jaclyn Baker, sister Elsie (John Winans), and brothers, Robert ( Shirley) and Don as well as numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. Jack's main interest in life was his family and especially his grandchildren over the long years battling cancer. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting, reading the history of the great wars, particularly about airplanes. Most of his relatives possess works of woodworking art that he created in his home workshop. He worked as a welder for many years in machine shops throughout Thunder Bay. As per Jack's wishes cremation has taken place. Interment of Ashes will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery with Julia Sinclair officiating. A luncheon will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, it was Jack's wish that you do a kind deed for a friend, relative or neighbour.
