With heavy hearts, the family of Teresa Balabuck, age 87, wish to announce her passing on January 27, 2011, 20 years to the day of her beloved husband Walter, surrounded by her loving family. Born Teresina Josephine Iazzani, in Fort William on March 19, 1923, to parents Velino and Angelina Iazzani. All who knew Teresa would agree she had a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life. Teresa loved to cook and entertain in her home until moving into Bethammi in 2002. She was loved by all and truly a special person to all who knew her. As a young woman, Teresa worked at Canada Car and then stayed home to raise her children until returning to work at West Fort Co-op until her retirement in 1985. Teresa is survived by her daughter Susan Graham (Barry); son Robert Balabuck (Susan); grandchildren Adam Graham, Michael (Christine) Balabuck and Jonathan (Laura) Balabuck; great grandchildren Nahdia, Stefan, Rudy and Brock Balabuck; brother Bill Iazzani (Ellen); sisters Nat Miller and Jennie Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Walter, January 27, 1991; parents Velino and Angelina Iazzani; brother Tony Iazzani; and sisters Mary Warder, Anne Bottos, Dora Kunze and Rita Atwood. A most sincere thank you goes out to Teresa’s sister Nat for her many years of loving devotion and companionship. Thank you also to all her family and friends for their frequent visits over the years. Lastly, a warm thank you to the amazing, caring staff of the 2nd floor at Bethammi for Mom’s care over the last years and up until her passing. They were truly her extended family (and ours). As per Teresa’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no service will be held. A private, family interment will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation, or Bethammi Nursing Home.
A tree will be planted in memory of Teresa Balabuck in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2012.
