Barrett, Ralph
Mr. Ralph Edward Barrett, age 79 years, a resident of 166 Matthews Street, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Port Arthur General on Thursday, May 24, 2001 following a brief illness. Born in Port Arthur he was a former resident of South Gillies and had lived in Thunder Bay for the past 60 years. Ralph was a member of Branch #5 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Rural 60 Plus, Canadian Snowbird Association, Quarter Century Club and he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He worked with the CN Railroad, Oscar Styffe Ltd. , and the L.P.H. for thirty years until his retirement in 1982. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Audrey, sons Edward of Marathon and Dale of Sarnia, brothers Cyril (Alice) and Everett (Sylvia), sisters: Doris O'Conner (Jim), Jean Sitch (Ray), Leta Cherwonick (Pete), Irene Fox (Eric), Vera VanRiper (Jack), Thelma Felbel (Leonard), Hazel Kaus (Herbert), Winnie Byington (John Russel) and Sharon Holowach (Harry); grandsons Richard and Jeff,granddaughter Summerlee, daughter-in-law Debbie and brother-in-law Kurt Stajkowski as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Esther Stajowski. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29th at 1:30 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Millie Wauhkonen of Agape Christian Assembly presiding. The members of Branch #5 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold their service of tribute in conjunction with the service. Private family interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends will be held on Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Chapel. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Branch #5 Legion Building Fund would be appreciated.
