Birch, Gordon
Mr. William Edward Birch of Dawson Court, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years on Monday, February 26, 2001 with his family by his side. Bill was born in Whitemouth, Manitoba and married the love of his life, Mary Anne Barski in 1924. He was a very active member of the 55 Club for many years and enjoyed his many years at Loon Lake with his family snowmobiling and boating. Bill had built his own home and lived there until 1999 when he moved to Dawson Court. Bill worked at Can-Car building air craft during the Second World War and after the war he was employed by garages and car dealerships as an auto mechanic. William is survived by sons Gordon and his wife Mary, Alan and his wife Nancy, 4 granddaughters Sharlene (Gary), Lori (Jamie), Candace and Tracey, 2 great grandsons Trevor and Ryan. He is also survived by two sisters Helen of Winnipeg and Alma of Vancouver, also by various other family members. Granga will be missed by the entire family he was so proud of. Predeceased by his loving wife Mary, brothers Jalmer, Emil and Bert and twin sister Selma. Funeral services for the late Mr. William Edward Birch will be held on Friday, March 2, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Rev. Randy Boyd of Trinity United Church officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service time. A donation has been made to the Dawson Court Auxilliary in honour of Mr. William Edward Birch by Everest of Thunder Bay.
