Mr. Herbert Helge Bostrom, age 89 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2008. Herbert was born and raised in Finmark. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors, camping and hunting. He was musically talented and in his younger years played in a band with his sisters, he continued playing his banjo for many years. Herbert was a storyteller, had a great sense of humour, had an amazing ability to always remain calm and always made people feel at ease in his home. Over the years he worked in the bush camps, at the Port Arthur Shipyards as well as on construction as a carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters‘ and Joiners Local 1669. He was also an adherent of Faith Chapel. On June 30, 1948 Herbert married the love of his life, Aune Wourela, and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on Monday. Herbert will be sadly missed by his wife Aune; sons: Clyde (Freda) of Salmon Arm, B.C. (here), Randall of Kenai, Alaska (here) and Maynard of Salcha, Alaska (here); grandchildren: Clark, Emily and Craig (Hillary) and great grandson Blade. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Hannah Bostrom; siblings: Hilda, Edna, Edgar, Mable, Myrtle and Bernard. Funeral services for the late Mr. Herbert Bostrom will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Rev. David Kimball of Lakehead Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire memorial donations to the Rural Life Mission would be greatly appreciated.
