Boyd, Brampton

Mr. Brampton Stewart Boyd, age 84 years, a resident of St. Joseph's Heritage, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (General) on Saturday, November 29, 2003. Born September 1, 1919 in Port Arthur, He attended Pine Street Public School and Port Arthur Technical High School. Brampton was employed by Wakefield Dairies and Shaw's Bakery before retiring from Thunder Bay Transit as a supervisor in 1984. He was a very dedicated and hardworking person. Brampton married Melba Franchi and together went on a cruise and travelled to many far away places as this is what they enjoyed. As a family with son Jim and daughter Beverley, they spent a few years living in the U.S. Along with family and travelling, Brampton liked cars very much and purchased many new ones in his day. Brampton is survived by his son James (Diana); stepmother Wilhelmina Boyd; brother Gordon (Alice) in BC; sister Rita (Hannes) Niemi in Nipigon; sisters-in-law: Sylvia in Guelph, Julia (Ben) Woit; brother-in-law Joe Franchi; grandchildren: Jason (Piya) of Montreal, Brooke, Steve (Leane), Lisa (Kevin) of BC and Kimberly (Russ) of Calgary; great grandchildren: Evan, Blake and Autumn. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Melba; daughter Beverly; parents Stewart and Margaret (Peggy); brother William (Bill) and sister Mary Rothwell. According to Brampton's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Ivany. Interment of the ashes will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Brampton's memory to St. Joseph's Heritage.
