Reverend Canon David Bradford, age 90 years, passed away Friday March 3rd, 2006. Born in England in 1916, raised in Belleville, Ontario, David and his family came to Thunder Bay in 1945. They joined the parish of St. Michael & All Angels where he and his wife Nora immersed themselves in a lifetime of fellowship and service. During his 60 years in Thunder Bay numerous community groups and organizations have benefited from David's love of people, zest for living, infectious good humour, and generous giving nature. Following a career in sales, David retired as District Manager for Kellogg's in 1976. In 1980, he entered into his second career as an ordained Anglican Minister. He subsequently served as Padre to the Mission to Seamen for 15 years and as an honourary assistant at St. Michael's until he 'retired' again in March, 2005. David was predeceased in 1998 by Nora, his loving wife of 60 years. He will be sadly missed by their three sons and their families - David (Marilyn), Brighton, ON, daughter Dawn (Bill King), Toronto, ON, son David (Claire), London, ON; Roger (Lynda), daughters Kendel, Wilmington, Delaware and Erin, Ottawa, ON; and Ted (Simone), Vancouver, B.C. , daughter Kerri (John Andersen) Calgary, AB, son Chris and their mother Sandra, Vancouver, B.C. , and Kerri and John's three sons Jonathon, Kyle and Shawn who will miss sharing summer vacations at One Island Lake with their great grandpa. He is also survived by his brother Norman (Iris) and sister Barbara. David was also predeceased by his second wife Jay in 2002 and will be sorely missed by his dear friend and companion Joan. Funeral services for the late Reverend Canon David Bradford will be held on Friday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church (Red River Road at Rockwood Avenue) with Rev. Peter Smyth presiding. As per David's wishes cremation has taken place and an interment of ashes will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of one's choice to help others just as David would have wanted. Arrangements entrusted to the Sargent & Son Funeral Home 21 N.
