Brown, Anthony Joseph

It is with great sadness we must announce the passing of our father Anthony Joseph Brown “Joe” on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Grandview Lodge. Joe was born in Huntsville, Ontario on July 27, 1929 and moved to Dryden as a child. He married Carol in 1957 and there they started a family before moving to Schreiber where he worked in the Terrace Bay Mill. In 1971 they moved to Thunder Bay were he went to work at Haglunds Lumber Yard as a carpenter. After they closed, he went to work for Fairway Construction and continued there until shortly after Carol’s death in 1979. He later went to work for Hylady’s and Triad Roofing before finally hanging up his beloved hammer in the early 80’s. In 1990 he married his long-time friend Iva and together they started a new journey with the motor home. They continued to travel until Iva’s death in 2000. Joe moved into Grandview Lodge in 2005 where he passed away peacefully with family by his side. Joe is predeceased by his parents Wesley and Alice Brown; first wife Carol and second wife Iva; brothers John, Norman and Frankie and sister Margaret. He is survived by brother Eugene (Florance) Brown and sister Norma (Bert) Boyd; his children Karen, Teresa, Randy (Arlene), Keith (Claudette) and Patty (Jerry) Winters; grandchildren Jason, Ryan, Crystal, Elisha (Tom), Jake (Sabrina), Blaze and Destiny and two great-grandchildren Scotty and Devin. Funeral services for Mr. Anthony Brown will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Jenkens. If friends and family wish, donations in Joe’s honour to the Alzheimer Society or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
