Mr. Martin Busby, age 89 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 13, 2009. Martin was born on December 11, 1919 to Louis and Ella Busby in Sheho, Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm along with his sister, Florence. Martin moved to Fort William in 1942 and began working for Canada Car (retiring in December of 1983). While working, he met Marion Anderson, and they were married in 1944. Together they raised their family in Fort William. Martin was involved with many community organizations like the Fix-it Club and was on the Board of Directors for Westfort and Superior Credit Unions. He was actively involved in his church, Redwood Park Church, where he made many friends and acquaintances. Martin was known as a Jack of All Trades - Master of None, and could fix practically anyhting! He became computer literate at the age 80, and enjoyed his new skill and e-mailing his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Marion; children Marlene (Joe) Milks, Joanne (Larry) McFarling, Albert (Linda) and Norman; grandchildren Glenn Prowett and Gayle Prowett Blazek, Gordon and Martin McFarling, Melinda Norhaugen and Elizabeth Busby, Kit Chepesiuk and Marnie and David Busby; special niece and nephew Alice Tarves and Austin Woods and brother-in-law Earl Robinson. Eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive. Predeceased by his parents; sister Florence Woods; grandson Matthew Busby and granddaughter Melissa Busby. Funeral services for the late Mr. Martin Busby will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Redwood Park Church. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon Society, Redwood Park Church - Opportunity Centre Food Bank or to a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
