Lyla Dagmar Campbell, age 86 years, a resident of the Municipality of Shuniah, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on February 27th, 2012.
Lyla was born and raised in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Upon finishing school, she served with the C.W.A.C. for two years; Canadian Postal Corps, stationed in Ottawa. She then returned to her hometown and married her first husband Pat McDonald. They later moved to Winnipeg where Pat worked as a conductor for the C.N.R. and Lyla, at Eatons. After Pats sudden passing, she transferred to Eatons in Thunder Bay, where she eventually met and married Harold Campbell. They moved to the country where they owned and operated Campbells Store (now Lakeshore Variety), for many years. Lyla treasured all of the friendships in her life. Once you met her, you were a part of her life forever! She was always very loving and generous, always offering to help anyone in need. She adored all the wildlife in the country and kept every animal that came within viewing distance very well fed! She was a proud member of Branch 5 Legion.
Lyla will be very dearly missed and lovingly remembered by Dan and Irene, Jussi and Ritva, Mary, Olga, Maureen and Henry, Faye, Linda and Dan, Bill and Alice, Ed and Edna along with many other dear friends whom she held so close to her heart. Lyla was predeceased by her first husband Pat as well as her husband Harold, her parents Ida and Emil Dalberg, aunt and uncle Lyyli and Wilho Toikko, cousin Al, Sylvia Fox and Sulo Hill.
In accordance with Lylas wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held at Riverside Cemetery.
