Carobelli, Luigi
It is with great sorrow that the family of Luigi Carobelli announce his passing on July 12, 2001. He was born in Paterno Calabro, Italy on May 29, 1945, he came to Canada in 1966. Lui was an honorable and giving man who focused his life around his family. He was a well-respected businessman, owning his own business (Louis and Franks Meats and Deli) for over 20 years. His primary focus was to provide for his family and he did this successfully and unselfishly.His main interests were his family, his garden and his drive and passion for the game of bocce where he met and made many friends. He was an active member of both the DaVinci centre and the Italian Society of Port Arthur.Lui was a high-spirited, kindhearted man who could make light of any situation. He most recently enjoyed his rabbit raising, which he started with his brother-in-law John. Lui was very lucky to have such a loving wife who cared for him and stood by him through the good and the bad times. . Sunday dinners with his family were very important to him and he cherished the time that he spent with his wife, children their families and Bandit the family dog. He had a great love for life and even through all of his battles he remained strong and full of hope giving his family strength to deal with his misfortunes. The summer of 2000 was a joy for him as he was visited by his nieces Francesca and Maria from Italy. Francesca was unique in that she expressed an undying love for her uncle, a love that she will carry in her heart forever.He is survived by his wife Gina of 33 years; his daughters, Rose Castellan (Bruno) and Franca Baswick (James); son, Frank Caro-belli (Jocelyn Bachmeier); Brothers, Joe (Angelina), and Mario (Ele-na), both of Hamilton, Ontario; Sisters-in-law Lina Fabiano, Aurora Casciaro (Mario); Gettina Barone (Antonio) of Toronto, Ida Arabia (Carmine) of Italy; brother-in-law John Nerino; uncles John Arabia (Rosina), Frank Porto and aunt Marietta Brescia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his father Francesco, mother Rosina, sister Nella Barone (Joseph), and aunt Angelina Porto.Funeral services for the late Mr. Luigi Carobelli will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2001 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, at 8:50 am to St. Anthony's R.C. Church for Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30 am, celebrated by Fr. Lino Santi. Entombment in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. Visita-tion for friends after 5:00 pm Monday, in the Everest Chapel with Prayers offered at 7:00 pm.In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation, or the Canadian Liver Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.A donation has been made in honour of Luigi Carobelli, to the Canadian Liver Foundationby Everest of Thunder Bay.
