CHICOINE

Paul Chicoine, age 91 years, left this world on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 with toolbox and fishing rod in heart and hand. Paul, a longtime resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Grandview Lodge with his family by his side.

Paul, one of 9 children, was born in Montreal, Quebec to the late Eduard and Jeanne Chicoine, and raised in Hearst, Ontario. He came to Thunder Bay, where he met is wife, Olga (nee Kashuba) and stayed to raise his own family. Here is where he established his talent and reputation as an exceptional carpenter and craftsman.

Second, only to his family, Paul loved nature. He was an avid outdoorsman; fishing, hunting and camping. Paul was a teaser and was always ready with a joke. He loved laughing, having fun and being with family.

Paul will forever be remembered by his family. He is survived by his "sweetheart" Olga of over 66 years, daughters Jennifer (Nelson) and Jeanette Meservia, grandchildren Arlana, Lesley (Kevin) O'Donnell, Marcy (Mario) Audet and Tracey Paquette, and 7 treasured great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Rene and sister Jeanine, numerous nieces and nephews, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. He is predeceased by brothers Sanford and Almour, sisters Hilda, Blanche, Marcelle and Denise, and his son-in-law Richard Meservia.

Paul touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humour all the way to the end.

A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26th, 2011 in the Westfort Chapel, 420 Gore Street at James. A Private interment will take place at Mountainview Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Health Thunder Bay.
