Clarke, Leonard

Mr. Leonard Albert Clarke, age 93 years, resident of Beardmore, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Care Group, Hospice Unit on October 22nd, 2007. He was born on December 13th, 1913 in Ottawa. Len worked at the Leach Goldmines in the 1930‘s, and served overseas in the Army from 1941 - 1944. He was also employed as a mechanic and leadhand with Camp 40, Abitibi and retired in 1978 after 29 years of service. Len enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and prospecting and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 56 years. Len is survived by Doug (Elaine) of Vancouver, Duane (Patricia) of Toronto, Leroy (Line) of Beardmore, Terry (Noella) of Beardmore, Jim (Maureen) of Winnipeg, Leona of Thunder Bay and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Dean, wife Norma (Woods), Ivine (Esquega) and dear friend Myrtle. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Northern Cancer Research Foundation or to St. Joseph's Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
