Crane, Thomas James

Mr. Thomas James Crane age 87 years, resident of Thunder Bay died in St. Joseph's Hospice on Monday July 25, 2005. A lifetime resident of the city, Tom was a stationery engineer and in his early working years, he worked in the Pickle Crow Gold Mine and then for 43 years at the Royal Edward Hotel. He was married to the former Anna Murray and together they enjoyed many happy years. Tom was a very active man and over the years he curled in the winter and was the past President of the Fort William Curling Club. He and Anna also enjoyed their winters in Texas. Tom's summers were spent at Trout Lake and he was a longtime member of the Trout Lake Campers Association. Tom's family played a very important role in his life and he always enjoyed the time that they spent together. He is survived by his wife Anna, children Maureen and husband Ken Wasky, Murray and wife Sally, both of Thunder Bay, Sam and wife Janice of Calgary, grandchildren Jon (Laura), Joe (Nancy), Josh, Leanna (Trevor), Roxanne (Chris), Amber and Axil. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Sam and Mabel and a sister Elsie, brother, Reg and wife Pearl and brother-in-law Calum Murray. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Dibbley of the Fort William Baptist Church officiating. The services will be complete in the chapel with final interment to take place in Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will take place on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Tom please make a donation to St. Joseph's Hospice Unit.A tree will be planted in memory of Thomas Crane in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
