Richard F. Creighton (Dick) passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 16, 2012. A celebration of his life will take place at his cherished summer home at Silver Islet on Monday, August 5th, 2012 beginning at 2:30 pm. All who knew Dick are invited to come and share their memories of him with his friends and family.
Dick was born in The Pas, Manitoba in 1925, and grew up in Thunder Bay from the age of 3 until he joined the Navy and served in the North Atlantic in 1943 - 1945. Graduating from Queens University in 1950 he began a rewarding career in which he helped invent the new field of Marketing Research with Proctor and Gamble, starting with the firm in Canada and then moving to the head office in Cincinnati. He became one of the iconic "Mad Men" in advertising in New York City and a "Captain of Industry" with Warner Lambert and Calgon/Beecham before retiring as a Senior Vice President of the company in 1987 at the age of 62.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Creighton (nee Aldrich) also from Thunder Bay and second wife Ethelyne Injaian (nee Wilson). He is also predeceased by daughters Susan Jill Creighton and Janet E. Gabrielson. Dick has left behind to remember him, brother Dave Creighton, sisters Lorraine Bowes and Patricia Sherlock and their families, son Richard Bruce Creighton, Amy Mokricky (John) and Nancy Creighton (Jim) and three grandchildren, Morgan and Darith Gabrielson and Jason Creighton.
