Cuff, Terrance
Terrance (Terry) J. Cuff, Sr. aged 61 years, a life-long resident of Thunder Bay, and currently a resident of Barrie, Ontario, passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital the early morning of October 31, 2003. Terry had moved to Barrie in May of this year to be near the University Health Network in Toronto while he waited to receive heart transplantation. Sadly, his wish was not attained. Terry was born in Truro, NS, on March 5, 1942, the older son of the Late Harvey and Frances Cuff. He was raised and educated in Fort William. In August 1968, he married Heather MacKay, who survives him. Terry is also survived by his son Terrance (Cindy) and grandson, Owen Cuff, of Barrie, his daughter, Heather-Anne Haney (Dan) and grandchildren, Paige Bryson, Jaeden and Matthew Haney of San Diego, California. Other surviving members of his family include a brother Jay (Jan) Cuff as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in Thunder Bay and Dryden. Terry was predeceased by his mother, Frances, in December 1997 and father, Harvey, in February 2002. Terry was a motor vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic by trade. He was employed as an inspector with the Ministry of Transportation & Communications in Thunder Bay, retiring in the spring of 2000. In his youth, he participated and excelled in various sports and he had immense enthusiasm for hockey and stock car racing. He was actively involved as a coach and director with the Elks Hockey program and the Thunder Bay Beavers Hockey Club, Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey, Fort William Figure Skating Club and he also served on the Boards of the Northern Lights (Great Lakes) Credit Union and Thunder Bay Community Bingo. In recent years, Terry had derived much enjoyment from his association with the management, staff and members of Emerald Greens Golf Course. Cremation has taken place and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes' Roman Catholic Church, Thunder Bay, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5th celebrated by Rev. Francis Pudicherry. Private interment will take place later in the week at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 4th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in support of the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Foundation or the Children's Wish Foundation. Terry will be sadly missed as a husband, a father, and a 'papa' to his treasured grandchildren and as a true friend to all who had shared in his life and community involvement.
