Daniele, Franca
(nee Sanzo), age 72 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away with her family at her side on Friday, August 10, 2012. Franca was born in Chiaravalle Centrale, Italy on September 1, 1939.
Franca married Franco Daniele in Italy on March 11, 1961 and a month later moved to Thunder Bay where they started their family. Franca was a member of the Ladies of the Italian Society of Port Arthur and St Anthony’s CWL for many years.
Franca was a devoted mother and wife. Tending to her family brought her great joy. She enjoyed family gatherings and played a big part in the planning of these events. If you happened to stop by her house you would never leave hungry and sometimes you would have eaten twice. Franca had a big heart and always looked after everyone else before taking care of her own needs. After her children were grown she started working, and retired as a seamstress from Tip Top Tailors in 2000. She was always there for her grandchildren supporting them in their various activities and loved every minute with them. She had a quiet sense of humour and a positive outlook on everything. Franca had a deep faith in God which gave her the strength to carry on through her difficult times. She was brave and courageous through her illness and fought right to her final hours. She always said that there were angels taking care of us. We believe she was our angel here on earth and still is in heaven.
Franca will be sadly missed by her loving husband Franco, children Joe (Laura), Nicola (Anita), Antonino, Stellina (Andy) Olinski, and grandchildren Franco, Sandro, Angelo, Guilia, Salvatore, Matthew, Alicia, Caitlin; siblings Salvatore (Eva) Sanzo, Maria Grazia (Joe) Rizzo, Giuseppe (Maria) Sanzo, Lucia (Annunziato) Caputo, Vincenza DeGiorgio, brother-in-law Antonio Badolato, and sister-in-law Giuseppina Sanzo in Italy. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive here, in Toronto and Italy.
Franca was predeceased by parents Nicola and Giulia Sanzo, brother Antonio in Italy, and sister Nella Badolato.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 14th, 2012 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 9:00 a.m. to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, for Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30 a.m. to be celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi, C.S. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation with viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday August 13th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, where the Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Franca’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
