With heavy hearts, we announce the tragic passing of Staci Dorval, age 22, on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at her home in Calgary, Alberta. Staci was born in Thunder Bay on August 28, 1990. She attended St. Martin, Scared Heart, and St. Patrick High School. Growing up Staci was very active with soccer, basketball, volleyball, curling, and dance. Music was one of her true passions expressed through piano and singing at various music festivals. She loved to express herself through creative personalized gifts. In high school she was very involved in drama class productions. She also had a special place in her heart for working with persons with disabilities, especially Ashley. She was very passionate about making a positive difference in everyone's lives mainly through her amazing volunteer work with many organizations. She attended the Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards (leadership training) first as a student and later as a facilitator in Crookston, Mn. She held many positions, including President, of the Thunder Bay Rotaract Club. Staci attended leadership conferences with Activate Canada in Ottawa and Calgary. She helped organize fundraising activities for the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2012, Staci moved to Calgary where she obtained her makeup artistry certificate and was planning to continue with her hairdressing course in the fall. Staci is survived by her loving parents, Terri and Gary, her sister Sara and her dog Lexi;
grandparents Marion Willis and Helen Dorval; Aunts and Uncles, Cheryl (Terry) Hanchar, Donna (Rick) Martin, Lori (Murray) MacLeod, Jodi (Jack) Hamlin, Tom (Anne) Dorval of Kamloops, BC, Jack (Abby) Dorval of Calgary, AB, Michele (Rob) Hamlyn; cousins Darren, Curtis, Derek, Ryan, Stef, Kyle, Matt, Kris, Michael (Callyn), Lisa, Ian, Justin, Robyn and Mitchell. She is predeceased by her grandfathers Larry Willis and Roger Dorval. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16 2013 when friends and family will gather at 2:00 pm in St. Agnes Church, with Rev. James Panikulam officiating. Services will be complete in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
A tree will be planted in memory of Staci Dorval in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 8, 2014.
